GingerBeard’s to celebrate ten years with unique collaborations
In 2014, Harry Calvert founded GingerBeard’s Preserves from the kitchen at his home in Montpelier where he created craft preserves to sell at markets.
One year later, he left his full-time job as a chef at Primrose Cafe in Clifton Village to dedicate all his time to the growing business, which now produces around 200,000 units annually by hand from their base in Kingswood.
GingerBeard’s (one look at Harry tells you where the name comes from) is now celebrating its first decade with a new product every day for the next ten days including some unique collaborations with fellow food and drink producers from across Bristol.

“I really wanted to go big to mark this occasion, and we have some exciting flavours lined up,” said Harry, with collaborations including with Eatchu and Moor Beer.
“I’m really proud to see GingerBeard’s Preserves celebrate its tenth birthday.
“There’s been ups and downs but mostly we had a steady run and we’ve been really lucky to collaborate with so many amazing independents and have many loyal customers.

Gingerbeard’s sales and marketing director, Claire Charras, added: “It feels like a huge achievement to reach this milestone, reflecting on the last ten years.
“Thinking back to then, Harry was making batches of 20 or so bottles of chipotle ketchup whereas we now make these in batches of hundreds.
“Running a small business isn’t without its challenges of course and balancing home and work life can be tricky when you are your own boss.
“Many will be acutely aware that the current economic climate which has especially been difficult for small businesses, and finding ourselves in our position today is a huge privilege and a testament to the team’s hard work and passion.”
