By Martin Booth  Monday Jan 29, 2024

A new Greek bakery and cafe has opened in a former hairdressers.

Bake-A-Licious in Clifton Village has a range of traditional products all made on the premises from pies to profiteroles, and cookies to cakes, as well as Greek coffee and tea.

Co-owner Manos Tsiapi says that his own favourites for sale are the spanakopita – spinach and feta pie – and the baklava made from layers of filo pastry, walnuts and honey syrup.

“There’s nobody else in England selling all of this,” Manos told Bristol24/7.

“So far, people seem very happy. When they see so many options, they are shocked!”

Manos, 31, from Yate, who was born in Lesbos and has lived in Bristol for seven years, has opened Bake-A-Licious with his wife, Amarilda Malokaj.

The cafe and bakery is on the corner of Royal York Crescent and Regent Street, with the produce on the shelves and in the fridges freshly made downstairs every day.

“Everything is Greek,” said Manos.

“And there’s nothing in this shop that can be found anywhere else.”
