‘Iconic’ dockside cafe for sale
A much-loved cafe overlooking the Floating Harbour is up for sale.
Brunel’s Buttery’s bacon baps and homemade cakes are a staple in many lives in Bristol with the sought-after breakfast hub standing the test of time for almost half a century.
The cafe and takeaway was the pride and joy of Colin and Joan Nutt who opened the business in the early 1980s and ran it more than 30 years.

It was then in the hands of Gary and Naomi Hands, before current owners Ray and Kay Leach took over the reins.
Now Brunel’s Buttery has been put on the market, with the business for sale as an “iconic cafe”.

Located between the M Shed and the SS Great Britain, Brunel’s Buttery has an asking price of between £200,000 to £500,000 including stock, with an annual rent of £27,000.
The potential buyer of the landmark cafe has a headstart, with an existing alcohol license, the option to extend opening times and no other cafe allowed to trade within 200 metres.
It has a nearby prep kitchen and storage area, and the current owners are prepared to offer a month of “hand holding” once the business is sold to help with any initial teething problems.
The reason cited for Brunel’s Buttery’s sale in its online listing is “ill health and age”.
