Karen’s Diner pop-up coming to Bristol
Karen’s Diner brands itself as a chance ‘to live out your Karen dreams’ and have a mutually rude interaction with staff at the burger joint.
A pop-up version of the Australian company is coming to Bristol for three evenings of good food, good laughs and very bad service.
The 1950’s-esque diner is named after the viral internet term ‘Karen’, which is used to describe an entitled and rude white woman, and promises the ‘full Karen experience’ for Bristol foodies.

Offering a free drink for patrons called Karen, the restaurant serves typically American fare of burgers, wings, fries and a ‘cholesterol heavy’ menu with a twist.
The unique selling point of Karen’s diner is that the waiting staff are rude, bitchy and will happily insult their customers.
The aim of this alternative dining experience is to provide restaurant-goers with an absurd and hilarious evening, as well as providing a space where people can release their ‘inner Karen’ and complain as much as they want.
According to its website, customers are ‘forced to play a variety of games’ to complete the interactive evening.
With restaurants worldwide and seven UK branches, the chain has launched a pop-up version of their service called Karen’s On Tour.
On Sunday April 23, Sunday July 9, and Sunday, October 15, Bristolians can enjoy the awful yet amazing dining experience that Karen’s Diner has curated.

Tickets to the pop-up events cost £40 and are available to buy online. Ticket price includes a pizza and bottomless drinks, with a choice of prosecco, select spirits and mixers, or soft drinks, for 90 minutes.
The evening is ran as a pilot event where the company threatens to ‘come as a longer term pop up or simply just stay put for a while’ until we’ve insulted everyone in your city’.
Ryan Blackburn, managing director of Karen’s On Tour, said: “Once you’re in a Karen’s, you’ll not be thinking about strikes, Brexit or electricity costs, you’ll just be wanting to survive.
“Customers would need to expect plenty of sass, great food, and a sprinkle of bad attitude.”
Reviews suggest that the food and overall experience are well worth it, with customers saying they will ‘die a happy Karen’ despite the hysterically horrible treatment from waitresses.
However, the staff ensure the atmosphere stays light and funny, with rules prohibiting racist, sexist, homophobic, and ableist comments.
