Left Handed Giant team open new cafe
The team behind Left Handed Giant have opened a new cafe just a stone’s throw away from their brewpub in Finzels Reach.
Commune serves fresh sandwiches and salads, with coffee roasted by Triple Co in Montpelier.
Plug sockets proliferate almost as abundantly as foliage with blocks of bright colours contrasting with the white walls.
is needed now More than ever

It can only be glimpsed through a glass wall at the moment but Commune also has access to a courtyard garden which offers a view overlooking the historic St Philip & St Jacob Church, one of the oldest churches in Bristol.

Where is Commune? It’s officially in an office block called, umm, Blok, which helpfully has the address of 1 Castlepark (sic) but is actually on the corner of Tower Hill and Castle Street.
The easiest way to get here is by bicycle or on foot. Head from the Old Market roundabout towards Castle Park, and find Commune on the ground floor of the building to your left.
Once you find this new cafe, you can find the sandwiches in a fridge. The options on Monday – its opening day – included coronation chickpea (£4 in or £3.50 out for takeaway); smoked cheddar, chive and spring onion (£5 or £4.50); and sausage, bacon and egg (£5.25 or £4.65).
And then treat yourself to a sweet treat such as rhubarb and custard blondies, blueberry bakewells, and rocky roads.

Commune joins a growing roster of Left Handed Giant businesses including the recently opened Hot Plate and Farside on Stokes Croft, as well as Small Bar and Renato’s on Stokes Croft.
The LHG team have the Midas touch and Commune will no doubt become a popular cafe in this corner of Bristol, once you find it.
