Meet Bristol’s ‘Burger Boys’
Seven friends have spent the last eight years doing what they love the most – eating burgers.
Amidst exploring the burger scene across Bristol, the Burger Boys have created a concept that resonates with several in the online world.
Speaking to Bristol24/7 about his group, one of the burger boys Flynn Guard said: “We’ve been a group of friends for a long time, but life got in the way. We realised that it’s harder to get together and meet regularly.”
is needed now More than ever
His friend of 34 years, Marcus Hawkins who is also one of the burger-eating boys added: “We decided that we’re going to get together every month, we’re going to go out, catch up, have a chat and grab a burger.”

The boys love eating juicy burgers from Asado Burgers
The group also decided to start reviewing the burger at their monthly meet-ups, so they had an “excuse” to be there.
Nic, Flynn, Marcus, Matt, Liam, Joe and Kyle started meeting and reviewing burgers in 2016. Eight years later they are still determined to get that burger on the first Wednesday of every month.
Flynn added: “I think in recent years for me, this meet-up has been really vital. Everybody has got their stresses of life, work, family and everything else.
“I don’t think I’ve ever come out from a night away with the boys feeling the same way I went into it.”

Marcus who admitted to having struggled with his mental health at a point, explained the importance of these meet ups.
“From the mental health aspect, guys do struggle – I’ve struggled quite a bit as well. I’d almost use the Burger Boys as therapy because when I’m with them we’re laughing, we’re joking and we just forget about all the problems and the way you’re feeling.
“For those three hours, you just enjoy the moment.
“We do talk as well – if somebody’s got a problem we’ve all got open ears and we’ll all give advice if needed if not just an ear.”
With over five thousand people following their journey online, there have been several requests by people outside the group to join the Burger Boys.
So have the Burger Boys considered expanding?

Both Flynn and Marcus chuckled and said: “The idea of having others join has been discussed. For people who do want to join, I think we’d have to put them through some sort of process.
“Maybe a food challenge.”
While expansion is on the cards, the Burger Boys have now run out of places to taste.
But these burger fanatics have one undisputed favourite – Milk Bun in Clifton.
Marcus couldn’t stop talking about their peanut butter burger.
He said as a disclaimer: “It doesn’t work on paper but on mouth, the bacon, peanut butter and chilli jam combination is incredible.”
