‘Mercifully small’ fire forces cafe to close

By Martin Booth  Sunday Feb 11, 2024

The team at the Bristolian cafe in Montpelier were inside the cafe on Sunday cleaning and repainting after a “mercifully small” fire.

A sign on the window thanks “local people’s prompt action” for preventing the fire from being any more serious.

An Instagram post also gives “special thanks to @natty7ee for his heroic action, you are our hero”.

The fire at the cafe on Picton Street is believed to have been accidental.

Despite reports in other media that the fire was “devastating”, the Bristolian is aiming to reopen within a fortnight.
