Millennium Square kiosk to become cafe from Friska founders
A kiosk on Millennium Square is being reopened by some of Bristol’s most experienced food and drink operators.
The team behind Double Puc will also take on the cafe within We The Curious when the science centre reopens in July, as well as catering for their numerous events.
Double Puc founders Griff Holland and Ed Brown successfully built Friska up into a growing national chain after opening their first cafe on Victoria Street, but the pandemic put pay to their business model which was heavily reliant on office workers.

The kiosk in Millennium Square was also a Covid casualty, after having opened in the summer of 2019 as 640East.
One former Friska on the ground floor of the Eye tower in Temple Quay – just the other side of the cheesegrater bridge from Temple Meads – became the first Double Puc in 2021.
Holland and Brown say their sustainable ethos closely aligns with We The Curious, which is due to officially reopen on July 2 following a number of test events.

Holland said: “We are immensely honoured to have been chosen as the designated operator for the cafe of We The Curious, as it reopens.
“We are deeply committed to providing not only exceptional food and service but also fostering a sense of community and curiosity, which perfectly aligns with the mission of We The Curious.”
Brown added: “Our team is excited to bring our unique blend of hospitality to We The Curious.
“Through our partnership, this will represent a big step forward for Double Puc.
“Our focus is to create memorable moments for visitors while contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of Bristol.”
