Mission Pizza set to open first permanent restaurant in Finzels Reach
Mission Pizza have already made a name for themselves as a street food business, including popping up at Left Handed Giant’s brewery at various events.
They are now crowdfunding to join the St Philip’s brewery in their new home at Finzels Reach.
Artisan bakers, Jim Bishop and Sandie Tomlinson, created Mission Pizza back in 2016 as a street food and event catering business, taking their 1950s-style teardrop caravan across the South West.
is needed now More than ever
They now aim to raise the £22,000 they need to provide the food offering within the new Left Handed Giant brewpub in Finzels Reach.
“Serving food all day, seven days a week, including takeaway, we want to build a kitchen that helps us stay close to our street food roots, whilst also introducing a range of sides, desserts and other exciting food options,” said Mission Pizza co-founder Jim Bishop.
“We are vegetarian and vegan pizza-specialists and our full menu will continue to be 100 per cent veggie with vegan alternatives available for 99 per cent of our menu. Bristol is, after all, the official vegan capital of the world!”
Jim and Sandie also hope that their first permanent home will help their new charity Slice Out Hunger, with pizza-based events raising money for a range of causes which focus on homelessness and poverty in Bristol.
Left Handed Giant managing director Bruce Gray said: “We’re hugely excited to be partnering with Mission Pizza at our new Finzels Reach brewpub.
“We fell in love with their pizzas at their first ever event, which was held at our taproom in St Philip’s, and have invited them back to the taproom whenever they could fit us in to their busy events schedule!
“Their pizzas are genuinely amongst the best I have ever tasted and what goes better than pizza and beer?”

News of Mission Pizza’s plans to open at Finzels Reach comes as the team behind Casamia reveal that they have pulled out of their original plans to open alongside Left Handed Giant at the Compressor Building site.
The brewery tea, have decided that they will need more space than originally envisaged, meaning that Casamia’s planned development kitchen would not be able to sit alongside it.
Casamia’s Peter Sanchez-Iglesias said: “I know Mission Pizza will be an awesome partner for Left Handed Giant at Finzels Reach. I can’t wait to come in for beer and pizza when they open.”
Left Handed Giant operations director Jack Granger added: “We remain great friends with Peter and the teams at his restaurants. Whilst we are fully focused on the opening of the brewpub, we’d love the opportunity to work with Peter on future projects.”
