More details revealed for reopening of ‘destination bar’ Goldbrick House

By Betty Woolerton  Saturday Feb 17, 2024

The return of one of Bristol’s most opulent bars will see 69 Park Street become a 300-capacity “destination” venue with “something for everyone” on its three storeys.

Goldbrick House, the original version of which closed in 2016, is being brought back to life by a new team who are promising an “luxury” “multi-roomed experience”.

They have given more details to bar’s reopening next month, with each floor having a different function “from a perfectly poured pint to a magnum of the finest Champagne and everything in between”.

On the ground floor, Goldie’s will be a drop-in bar serving continental beers on tap alongside stout and selected local pours.

On the first floor, Alfred’s Wine & Champagne Bar will be a table service bar with specialist bartenders on hand to advise on a wine list which will include “old favourites and new bottles to savour”, as well as a small plates menu.

On the second floor, there will be a disco room with resident DJs playing retro soul and Motown and a giant golden glitter ball. Capacity is 50 and bookings are essential with a £10 deposit per person, the team added.

As well as an events space, Goldbrick House plans to host a steak night, with steak seared and served on a hot stone, brunches and a carvery.

Goldbrick House director Paula Hanley said: “We can’t wait to open the doors on the newly refurbished Goldbrick House.

“We invite Bristol to ‘Come Fabulous’ to experience all the fun of a proper night out in the beautiful setting we’ve created.

“I truly believe there is nothing quite like Goldbrick in Bristol right now and I know our guests are going to love what we’ve got planned for them.

“Let’s get the party started!”

Housed over two Georgian buildings and featuring several interconnecting floors and rooms, Goldbrick House was opened in 2006 but closed a decade later, with The Florist most recently using the site until April.

During its most successful period, Goldbrick House was serving more than 2,000 customers a week in its ground floor cafe, cocktail and champagne bar, restaurant on two floors, roof terrace, and meeting rooms.

Goldbrick House opens on Friday, March 1.
