New organic juice bar opens in Montpelier
Juices, smoothies and milkshakes are the order of the day at Mr Lahey’s on Picton Street in Montpelier, which opened its doors for the first time during St Paul’s Carnival.
The whir of the juicer and wafting smell of fresh fruit on Monday afternoon heralded each new order.
Many customers chose to sit outside in the garden under the shade of the trees, while inside – in what used to be the much-missed Katie & Kim’s Kitchen – other people popped in for takeaway.
is needed now More than ever

If Oowee Diner on the other side of the road advertise their wares as “deliciously dirty”, in Mr Lahey’s it is the polar opposite.
Written on a large blackboard, the menu extols the virtue of each drink: ‘your hair and skin will glow’, ‘vitamin E to help you see’, ‘super cooling hydrator’.
Fortunately the drinks here taste delicious while also providing this myriad of health benefits, with many of the ingredients coming from Radford Mill Farm Shop next door.

Cool down in the garden of Mr Lahey’s
Their signature drink, Mr Lahey’s Kleanse (£4.50), contains kale, parsley, lemon, pineapple, cucumber, mint, ginger and apple cider vinegar.
Tone that down a bit and you have the Green Clean (£3) with cucumber, parsley, lemon and celery.
A mango lassi (£4.50) is currently on the smoothie menu – read Bristol author Nikesh Shukla’s method for making the most of this fruit in his latest Guardian column.
But it’s not all strict health here, with one of the milkshakes, Choccy Biccy (£6), using dark chocolate cookies and Booja Booja M’Gorilla vanilla ice cream with almond milk.
The whir of the juicer begun again as another customer placed their order, a hit of Watermelon’s ‘toxin flushing goodness’ coming their way.
