New restaurant Casa opening soon from team behind Casamia
The Sanchez-Iglesias family say that their new restaurant Casa will be a “contemporary, accessible, yet refined take on traditional Italian dining”.
Casa will be opening in November on the site of the family’s former Michelin-starred restaurant Casamia, which closed in August after 25 years.
The 66-cover restaurant on Lower Guinea Street at The General in Redcliffe, overlooking Bathurst Basin, promises to offer a similarly relaxed environment to Paco Tapas next door under executive chef, Joel Breakwell.

Dishes from Casamia’s history such as tiramisu will return to the menu, which will include antipasti bites, a seasonal selection of pasta plates, fish and meat courses, and dessert.
Breakwell will oversee both Casa and Paco Tapas, with Paco’s restaurant manager also working across both restaurants, with Alex Brownrigg becoming head chef at Casa.
The Casa team say that “diners are welcome to either drop in for a plate of pasta and a glass of wine, or feast at length with the Chef’s Menu, which encompasses the very best of the menu that day”.
Guests will also be welcome to prop up at the restaurant’s bar and counter spaces, which will be serving snacks and cocktails.
