By Martin Booth  Tuesday Feb 19, 2019

A historic corner of King Street is set to be transformed into a new steakhouse from the owners of the Premier Inn.

Bar+Block is described by owners Whitbread as “an informal, all-day dining restaurant with a focus on high quality steaks”.

It currently has eight locations across England, including on James Street West in Bath, which are all part of Premier Inn hotels.

Bar+Block is due to open on the corner of King Street and Welsh Back in April

The restaurants feature a large open kitchen, central bar, and “rustic design elements” including timbers and exposed brick walls.

Steaks are hand cut to order, with the Bath menu currently including the likes of a 8oz rump steak for £12.95 up to a 10z “deconstructed beef wellington” for £28.95.

Bristol’s Bar+Block is due to open on April 23 on the corner of King Street and Welsh Back, on the site of what was originally two of the original five projecting gables of the Llandoger Trow. which were destroyed in the Second World War.
