North Street Standard becomes Local Bristol

By Martin Booth  Monday May 13, 2024

A bar on North Street has had a rebrand as its owners take the business back to basics.

North Street Standard was part of the Anything But Standard group of bars and restaurants that started with Urban Wood on Colston Street (now Asado) and Urban Standard on Gloucester Road (now Palomar), and also saw Society Standard open in Cardiff.

But the Standard name is no more with the Bedminster bar now called Local Bristol.

The Local Bristol name “reflects what we like to think we are to so many”, said the Local Bristol team.

On Local Bristol’s opening day on Friday, the Local Bristol team wrote: “So here we are….The ‘Standards’ was a group of bars…we’re now back where we started with just the bar on North Street.

“It’s time for a change, we’ve given the place a spruce and we’re feeling energized!

“The new name reflects what we like to think we are to so many! Come and help us open in style!”
