Pizzarova first business confirmed for Cargo 2

By Martin Booth  Thursday Nov 10, 2016

Pizzarova were the trailblazers when they opened in a converted shipping container behind M Shed.

They have now been confirmed as the first business in Cargo 2 – the second collection of containers that are due to open in January.

Cargo 2 will be more than twice the size of the original Cargo on Gaol Ferry Steps in Wapping Wharf which contains the likes of Box-E, Chicken Shed and Pig Sty.

Also opening on the first floor of Cargo 2 will be Italian, Greek and fine dining restaurants, with a yoga studio and retail units on the ground floor.

In an exclusive interview with Bristol24/7, Stuart Hatton, director of Wapping Wharf developers Umberslade, said: “We’ve got a real mix of people coming in. Cargo has been fantastic since it opened. It’s a nice, eclectic mix of people and they are all so complementary, as Cargo 2 will also be.”

Pizzarova has had to move a hundred or so yards away from its original location to allow the ground works for Cargo 2 to take place, with the shipping containers due to arrive in the next few weeks ready for a fit-out and opening in the new year.

The names of the restaurants and other businesses that will be joining Pizzarova will be announced soon.

A new contemporary art exhibition has been installed at Cargo 1 in partnership with Upfest. Different artwork will be exhibited throughout the year as the murals rotate to showcase Bristol’s talented contemporary artists. The first mural by Gemma Compton (above) features her recognisably intricate floral designs and the second by Sophie Long features cormorants in brightly coloured hues.
