Popular international supermarket to open new site

A popular international supermarket serving Halal, Asian and Mediterranean goods is opening another premises on Gloucester Road.

Alfu International opened its first branch in Fishponds in 2020, and then another on Stapleton Road in Easton, alongside an online shop.

Owner Murat Unal is behind the supermarket, having run supermarkets in Swindon and Cheltenham.

The huge supermarket sells wholesale and retail produce from Turkish, Arab, Balkan, Eastern European, African, Asian and many more cultures, and claims to be the largest Halal supermarket in the South West.

Alfu International will open on the corner of Gloucester Road and Egerton Road in Bishopston at the end of the month.

The site has been up for sale for nearly four years, and was last occupied by the Cooperative supermarket in 2019.
