Pubs become off licenses to continue serving thirsty locals
From its side window in Kingsdown, a pub has become an off license in order to keep trading during the coronavirus pandemic.
While pubs have been ordered to close by the government, off licenses are able to remain open.
This means that pubs like the Green Man can still provide drinks to local residents, both quenching thirst and ensuring that some cashflow comes into the business.
is needed now More than ever
The Green Man offers takeaway beer in refillable containers that customers can pick up from the pub’s side hatch.
“We would remind you that we are a fully functioning off-licence and we only advise you to visit on your shopping trip or on your way back from exercise,” the Green Man team wrote on a Facebook post before the Easter weekend, usually one of the busiest times of the year for pubs.

The same story is repeated at the Bag of Nails in Hotwells, which is remaining open for takeaway beers and ciders while a refurbishment takes place inside.
They have a range of bottled and canned beers from Bristol and across the world, as well as five lines of beers which can be poured into takeaway containers.
