Squeezed in Wapping Wharf to become a little less squeezed
It has been a big year for one of Bristol’s smallest restaurants.
In February, Squeezed head chef and owner Alex Hayes was named the best burger chef in the UK.
And the Wapping Wharf restaurant in a converted shipping container regularly sells out.

2020 looks set to be even bigger for Squeezed, with the restaurant due to move into a new and bigger home in nearby Cargo 1.
“After 2.5 years of trading in our small and perfectly yellow burger box, we’re closing our doors,” wrote Alex in an Instagram post, spreading mild panic among his many regulars.
“Building this business up from the ground has been a humbling experience and an utter privilege. It’s hard to believe how we started out and what we have achieved along the way.
“I’ve gotten to know so many people and the support from #bristol and beyond and all our customers has blown me away – you have made us who we are and kept us striving to keep our product the best it can be.
“Squeezed as we know it will reduce its hours down to lunchtimes during December before we close on the 20th for good…
“In February 2020 we will reopen in a bigger spot in Cargo 1! ????????????????”

A bigger Squeezed will mean more trading hours and more days open, with Alex promising that the ability to hold more stock will also mean the restaurant will be less likely to sell out.
Customers will now be able to dine inside as Squeezed increases their current seating capacity of three, with some menu additions including the return of pies.
“I want to say THANK YOU, Alex added. “To everyone who has eaten with us, supported us, crowdfunded us, written, snapped and blogged about us. This is all your fault ???? and I can’t wait to welcome you all to our new restaurant next year.”
