Top-rated restaurant sold to new owners
A restaurant that for several years was Bristol’s highest ranked on Tripadvisor has been sold to new owners.
Pipal Tree became well-known for its seasonal British-Punjabi fusion food since opening on Chelsea Road in Easton in 2017.
But husband and wife owners Kirpal Singh and Kulwinder Kaur have now sold Pipal Tree and its sister restaurant Pipal Leaf on Church Road in Redfield.
is needed now More than ever
Both restaurants were very much a family business and now that Kirpal and Kulwinder’s children are all adults, they have made the decision “to end on a high as we had a really good run”.
Kirpal also said that the cost of living crisis was a factor in their decision.

While talking to Bristol24/7, Kirpal specifically wanted to say “thank you so much for supporting us” to all of their “amazing customers”.
Pipal Tree may have had more than 1000 five-star reviews on Tripadvisor and collected a few awards along the way, but Kirpal said that more important was being part of the Easton community.
On Monday, Pipal Tree was still ranked as the third best restaurant in Bristol according to Tripadvisor reviews, behind Coronation Curry House in Bedminster and Baba Ganoush in St Paul’s.
Kirpal said that he already misses being in the kitchen of his businesses, and if he ever makes the decision to open a new restaurant after a few years’ break, it is likely to be more of a fine dining experience rather than the rustic homemade-style dishes at Pipal Tree and Pipal Leaf.
“Watch this space,” he added.
