Two new restaurants opening next door to each other
Two new restaurants are preparing to open next door to each other, both with classic punning names.
Thank Cod For That and the Arjee Bhajee will be neighbours in Hotwells beside the Mardyke.
Arjee Bhajee – who already have a restaurant in Staple Hill – have previously won awards for their Indian cuisine from head chef Mojrul Haque, with the Haque family also behind Old India on St Nicholas Street.

Fish and chip restaurant Thank Cod For That meanwhile promises “proper British comfort food”.
The building on Hotwell Road has previously been home to a number of different food and drink businesses over the years including the long-established Hotwells Fish Bar which was later replaced by Andel’s Cafe and Hotwells Hideout.
On the other side of Thank Cod For That and the Arjee Bhajee from the pub are the Mardyke Steps, connecting Hotwell Road to Church Lane in Cliftonwood.
