Unique concept for new Stokes Croft bar
A “sophisticated cocktail bar” with a surprising new concept could be opening on Stokes Croft.
Bar Code might soon replace a former hairdressers at 54 Stokes Croft on the corner with City Road.
The name of the bar is based on a system which would allow people to pre-book tables, with customers sent a barcode confirming their booking which would then be scanned upon arrival.
is needed now More than ever
Mobile phone and internet blockers will be installed so customers are encouraged to put their electronic devices away and talk to each other.
However, there won’t be a complete absence of telephones – as a landline-style phone will be placed on each table to allow customers to place drinks orders.
Customers will also be able to dial other tables to start up conversations as well.
The premises at 54 Stokes Croft which was the former Touch of Class Hair Salon is still empty with the hairdressers’ signage still up outside.
It will now be the responsibility of the applicant Daron Rosenior to turn the run-down building into the unusual bar.
In a letter to Bristol City Council’s licensing committee, Rosenior said he felt the Stokes Croft area was “lacking in options for professionals, couples on date nights and older clientele”.
He added: “What I would like to do is provide a venue where people can go to relax, try a range of cocktails made with high quality ingredients and most importantly communicate with each other.
Rosenior now has to apply to the council for planning permission to turn the premises into a bar.
