Vegan pizza restaurant to open in Bristol

By Martin Booth  Friday Jun 26, 2020

The UK’s first vegan pizzeria is due to open its first Bristol restaurant in August.

Purezza specialises in plant-based alternatives to classic Neapolitan pizzas and is in the process of opening a plant-based cheese factory.

They opened their first restaurant in Brighton in 2015, opened a London branch in 2018 and are also due to open in Hove in August.

The Bristol restaurant promises to serve a full gluten-free menu, a large range of cocktails, and raw dishes including a raw pizza using a base made with seeds and nuts.

Purezza will be opening in Bristol at 79-81 Gloucester Road in the site previously occupied by Pigsty, who have recently reopened their restaurant at Wapping Wharf for takeaway and have also opened a new stall within Bath Spa station.

Purezza co-founder and co-owner, Tim Barclay, said: “We absolutely adore Bristol. It is a fantastically diverse and welcoming city. We have been looking at opportunities to open here since Purezza began back in 2015.

“Having taken part in the wonderful Bristol Vegfest a couple of times, it was always an amazing experience and it made us eager to put some roots down.

“We’re thrilled that the time has finally come to open our doors and join the thriving restaurant community that exists here, whilst bringing our plant-based pizzas to the people of Gloucester Road and beyond.”
