Vegan sandwich business moves to Bristol from Barcelona

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Apr 24, 2024

A sandwich business founded by two friends in Barcelona is coming to Bristol for a two-month pop-up.

The Dirty Vegans promise “saucy sarnies that would turn any meat eater to the vegasmic side”, with a menu including “dirty” and “extra dirty” sandwiches.

The pop-up begins on Sunday at ChaiGuy on St Mark’s Road in Easton and runs until the end of June; with 50 per cent off on opening day.

The Dirty Vegans was founded in 2018 by GiGi and Babs, who say that they “quickly became best friends while searching for adventure and the best food” that Barcelona had to offer.

GiGi and Babs said: “We were meat-eaters when we moved here and wanted to transition to a plant-based diet but could never find food that satisfied us.

“In the UK and Ireland sandwiches are a lunchtime staple and we felt that this was what Barcelona was lacking.

“That’s when we knew there was room in the hearts and mouths of the city’s people for a big dirty sandwich! It was from there that The Dirty Vegans was born!”
