A-Z Bristol pub crawl: The George, Knowle
The pink exterior of The George is a cheerful welcome on a grey Friday afternoon.
Inside, rock and roll music plays as the sun starts to come out from behind the clouds, reflecting off the disco ball that hangs from the ceiling.
On one table, empty cans of Natch are piled up as a punter recalls, in perfect detail, fight he’s had in the past.
is needed now More than ever
“I don’t know how he remembers it all,” says the man’s friend as he goes to relieve himself in the toilet, where a scene from Pulp Fiction is framed on the wall.
The mid-19th century pub on Wells Road regularly has live music, with a poster advertising an upcoming performance by the Bristol Blue Brothers.
By the bar, a lone drinker grunts, which causes the bar woman to swiftly pull him another pint of Courage. He must come here often.
The spacious pub also includes a pool table, surrounded by comfy sofas. While potted plants are dotted between the pub’s ample tables and chairs, making it feel homely.
