Cambodian-inspired pop-up joins forces with ‘rare gem of a pub’
A popular Cambodian pop-up restaurant returns with a collaborative menu at The Kensington Arms in Redland.
Tom Geoffrey, the founder of Barang, who focuses on Cambodian BBQ and regional Khmer dishes is teaming up with The Kensington Arms’ head chef Oscar Davis to present a, two night, exclusive six course set menu.
The evenings continue Tom’s successful series of recent Bristol pop-ups, which included stints at The Scrandit and Bokman on its trail.

The Kensington Arms, or The Kenny, as it is affectionately known, has won high praise from restaurant critics, especially Grace Dent, who called it “a rare gem of a pub that serves expertly prepared food without airs and graces – it’s almost a shame to share the secret”.

Tom’s inspiration for Barang comes from his love and passion for Cambodian cuisine and culture. The actor-turned-chef realised his dream of “bringing a slice of Cambodia to Bristol” when he founded Barang in 2023. The many roadside kitchens across Cambodia have influenced his menus to date with the smoke, fire and Cambodian flavour.
Bringing together The Kenny’s classic cooking techniques and focus on seasonal British produce with the tastes and aromatics of Cambodia, dishes on the menu at the pop-up include: Venison Tartare with Chilli Jam, Pickled Pear and Shrimp Cracker. Fried Norfolk Quail, Pickled Kohlrabi and Cranberry Tuk Trey and Braised Short Rib, Anchovy & Kampot Pepper Glaze, Plum & Tamarind Purée.
The Cambodian menu at ‘The Kenny’ is set to be Tom’s final pop up in Bristol for a while. Speaking on the collaboration, he said: “Very excited by the menu that Oscar Davies and I have put together for this collaboration event between Barang and The Kensington Arms next week.
“This is possibly one of my final Bristol events for a while, so try and get yourselves down to the Kenny, for this absolute banger of a set-menu.”
