One of Bristol’s oldest and most-loved Chinese restaurants to relocate
A family-owned Chinese restaurant which has been serving Cantonese food in Bristol for more than 25 years has announced it will be relocating due to redevelopment plans in the area.
The Mayflower on Haymarket Walk has long been respected among the Chinese community as the go-to place for traditional food in Bristol, also becoming popular within the city’s hospitality professionals due its late-night opening hours.
Previously located in Kings Square during the early 1990s, now the Mayflower team have revealed the restaurant will be relocating again, with its new location yet to be confirmed.

It joins a number of businesses, including vintage shop Loot and vegetarian restaurant Flow, housed in the concrete underpass that have recently vacted their premises due to development plans to replace the Premier Inn site with two new tower blocks.

In a statement, the Mayflower team said: After 20 incredible years at the Haymarket, we have some big news to share with you all. Due to redevelopment plans for our current site, we will be relocating to a new premises.
“This decision hasn’t been an easy one, as we’ve built so many memories and cherished moments here. However, we are excited about this new chapter and the opportunities it brings.
“We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support over the years has been the cornerstone of our success.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for choosing us as your dining destination, for sharing your celebrations and milestones with us, and for making our restaurant feel like home.
“Our last service at the Haymarket will be on June 26. Be sure to join us for one final meal and let’s make it a memorable one!
“As we embark on this new journey, we promise to continue serving you with the same passion, dedication, and delicious food that you’ve come to love.
“Stay tuned for updates on our new location and reopening dates. We can’t wait to welcome you all to our new home!”
