The community music venue/arts space holds its always popular weekly African drumming workshop/class. Get a fiver off your ticket if you bring your own drum, but don’t worry, drums will be provided. You will be led through basic exercises, before coming together and engaging in a group mass drumming session.

Tuesday-June 19: Mirrors Fog Over When I Breathe, Centrespace Gallery
CLOSE proudly presents Mirrors Fog Over when I Breathe, an exhibition featuring new works by Helen Barff, Katherine Perrins and Denise Webber. This show marks the first in a series of curated exhibitions in Bristol by CLOSE Gallery. The exhibition brings together works that evoke a humanness and notions of what it is to be alive and physically present and in the moment. The title is taken from a poem by the American poet Leslie Harrison.

Wednesday: Summer with Stewart Wines tasting menu, Old Market Assembly
Having run a series of successful vegan tasting menus back at the start of the year, Old Market Assembly is returning to the game, this time with a seasonal summer, five course tasting menu. Last week was paired with beers from Old Market’s Wiper & True, with this week’s drinks pairings coming from Bedminster based Stewart Wines.

Thursday: Bristol Recovery Festival, Trinity Centre

For more than 30 years, Pegasus Opera Company has fearlessly paved the way for diverse talent in opera. This week, they’re paying tribute to Windrush, showcasing a rich tapestry of music and storytelling, and celebrating Black classical composers: past, present and future. Through the outstanding music of Chevalier de Saint Georges, Richard Thompson and Des Oliver – three composers who represent different eras of Black history – they’ll honour the legacy of the Windrush generation with an exciting fusion of classical music, jazz and blues. A fascinating immersive exhibition showcasing the work of Black British composers through music, photographs and local Windrush testimony will be showcased in Bristol Beacon alongside the performances.

Sunday: Bristol Sounds: Gentleman’s Dub Club Vs The Skints, Lloyds Amphitheatre
The annual live music extravaganza that takes over Lloyds Amphitheatre kicks off this weekend, with the Sunday edition coming in the form of a (hopefully) sun drenched dub, ska and reggae soundclash between festival favourites Gentleman’s Dub Club and London based rising stars on the UK reggae circuit The Skints.
