Who We Are

Our mission is to build a community around independent journalism. We are focusing our efforts around four key areas; content, community, resilience and sustainability.

Our priorities are to create opportunities for young people, inspire communities to take action for the climate and celebrate Bristol’s diversity through storytelling.

As a publisher, our ethos is to be independent, honest and transparent, and uphold the highest editorial values. We want to represent the whole of Bristol and work hard to engage with and provide a platform for marginalised individuals and hard to reach communities. Bristol24/7 is the South West’s Bristol’s biggest independent magazine and website and your first port of call to find out what’s happening across Bristol with news, features, what’s on listings and everything in between. You’ll find it all here on our website, on our weekly podcast and across our social media.

We are completely independent and are not owned by, or affiliated with any other media group. We are a small team working hard to provide Bristol with honest local news and culture. Our funding comes from grants and fundraising, advertising and the support of our wonderful members.

Our award winning work experience programme provides real life experience to a wide range of young people, including those who would not usually get opportunities to develop skills in the media industry. More than 500 people have gained work experience at Bristol24/7 HQ with many going on to follow careers in journalism. Some are now working at national newspapers.

In 2017, Bristol24/7 launched an ambitious social impact programme delivering projects that have changed the lives of many who live in the city. In 2018, we created Better Bristol, an initiative to bring together our social and environmental aspirations, support its editorial independence and build a collaborative approach to making a better Bristol. In 2022, we hired a dedicated Climate & Sustainability Editor, and more Community Reporters to write about their local areas. We also extended our work experience programme to those who might not otherwise access it through a partnership with Babbasa.
