By Martin Booth  Thursday Aug 24, 2023

A Bristol company has developed what they say is “a revolutionary smart bike light redefining cyclist safety”.

Guard from Lightbug features up to 4,000 lumen brightness, advanced anti-theft features, GPS integration and “uncompromising durability”.

Lightbug promise that their new smart bike light is “brighter than your car headlight (and) more secure than your relationship”.

Each of the lights is made by the Lightbug team at their office on Easton Road in Easton, with a crowdfunder now launched ahead of the lights going on sale with an early bird price of £199.

“Quality control is our biggest focus,” says Lightbug founder and CEO, Chris Guest.

“Making our products not just in the UK but in-house, has been the key to achieving exceptional quality. We know that our products will last, because we’ve built them.”

Guest says that Guard is “a groundbreaking smart bike light poised to redefine safety and security for cyclists”.

“With an unparalleled blend of cutting-edge features and uncompromising design, Guard is set to illuminate the road ahead like never before and bring bike protection into the 21st century.”

Founded in 2017 by a father and son duo, Lightbug’s first product was a solar-powered GPS tracker, with their customers now including National Rail, the PGA Tour and Domino’s.
