Cycling Position
Fancy a sports massage while perusing the latest in high-end bikes and cycle clothing? This might just be the place for you.
James Mccaffrey is the owner of new shop Cycling Position on St Nicholas Street, tucked away neatly behind St Nicholas market. He has just opened this new venture: a bike-fitting studio with shop attached selling cycling and casual clothing, with a dash of sports massage added in to the mix.
Customers bring their own bike into the studio, where, with the help of specific machinery, they are filmed cycling in order to analyse their cycling position and make any necessary adjustments. The finished result is a more comfortable cycling position and a smoother ride all round. This all happens downstairs in the studio, alongside the sports massage sessions.
is needed now More than ever
James, a Bristolian and keen all-round cyclist, got into bike fitting after damaging his arteries from excessive riding. Having been a bike fitter for some time, James decided to set up his own bike-fitting studio. “It’s late in the season for bike fitting, but actually it’s been really positive with the amount of people coming in,” he says. The shop has been open for two weeks, with the fitting studio still being refurbished and a website on the way.
Cycling Position’s clientele are likely to be cyclists who attend sportives, triathlons, cyclecross and races, with high-end, custom-build racing bikes on offer and clothing lines such as Castelli, Santini and Chapeau. With the rise and rise of cycling in Bristol, it seems like a great time to start such a venture.
