Cyclists take over city centre streets

From penny farthings to recumbents, tandems to tricycles, bicycles of all shapes and sizes took over Bristol’s city centre streets on Sunday.

This year’s Let’s Ride Bristol saw hundreds of people cycle a 4.7km course which started on Anchor Road and took in the centre, the Old City and Queen Square.

With roads closed to cars, it was an ideal opportunity for cyclists young and old to experience a Bristol free of motor vehicles.

Millennium Square was the main hub for the free event, with live music and other activities; with cycling demonstrations also taking place on the centre near Ka:Fei’s shipping centre.

Dozens of riders also took part in the HSBC UK National Series Men’s Road Race first before the Let’s Ride event and the Women’s HSBC UK National Circuit Race afterwards.
