Festival of Nature returns to live events this June
The UK’s largest free celebration of nature is back, and after two years running a smaller programme online there are 95 events to choose from across the Bristol and Bath region. After building a national audience, 16 of the events will run online, including a special nature writing event for those suffering from Long Covid or other chronic illnesses.

Five things not to miss this year:
is needed now More than ever
1. Behind the scenes with BBC’s Green Planet – Paul Williams, Producer and Director of BBC Studio’s recent production ‘The Green Planet’ welcomes Festival audiences to Watershed for a behind the scenes look at the making of the series, the power of plants, and what it is like to work with Sir David Attenborough.
2. Family Nature Party – the festival’s youngest visitors have a special takeover day all to themselves at Bristol Beacon, with a free family day of performances, workshops, stalls and activities all geared to kids under 10.
3. Green Social Prescribing ‘tasters’ – this year’s festival boasts a huge range of sessions to encourage people to get out and try something new in nature. Designed to promote health and wellbeing, sessions include wild swimming, gardening, nature writing, den building, Nordic walking and more.
4. Nature at Night – two feature events take a special look at nature after dark… Join us for an evening adventure of wildlife spotting and star-gazing in Bath City Centre with local experts, and a special collaboration between local researcher Andy Flack and Bristol’s City Poet Caleb Parkin at Dark Ecologies.
5. Action Day – the Festival kicks off on June 10th with a day of actions by schools, communities and businesses. Take part from home by ordering a free ‘Action Pack’ from the Festival of Nature website.
Savita Willmott, director at The Natural History Consortium, which organises the festival said:
“This year looks to be our most exciting and important yet. We’re so excited to be bringing together so many organisations to deliver an exciting programme of free events. Nature has played a crucial role for us all during Covid-19 and we want to inspire everyone to get out this summer, find new places and connect with the organisations who are safeguarding our favourite places.”
Come and join in with this year’s festival 10-18 June, and take action for nature!
