Find the Calmer Llamas in Bristol Shopping Quarter this Easter
Following previous trails featuring camels, lions, zebras, elephants, and flamingos, the Broadmead BID team is once again joining forces with The New Room (John Wesley’s Chapel) and The Methodist Church’s Ark Bus this spring to create another exciting event, their biggest Easter trail yet, featuring the Calmer Llamas!
Children of all ages from across Bristol have been decorating llamas for the past few weeks and from Saturday 6 until Monday 22 April the 52 cardboard figures will be hidden around Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade, and Cabot Circus ready for young shoppers and their families to track down over the Easter holidays. Maps showing their locations will be available from the customer services desk in Cabot Circus, Barber Brown on Bond Street, Specsavers in Merchant Street and the New Room in Broadmead. Children who complete the trail will be able to visit the New Room to collect a chocolate gift and when the trail ends all 52 Calmer Llamas will be displayed there until 30 April.
is needed now More than ever
The Ark Bus team will be running free family craft activity sessions at the New Room on Tuesdays 9 and 16 April between 11am and 1pm and hosting ‘Drop in’ Mindfulness Meditation sessions on Wednesday 10 April from 2pm – 4pm and Wednesday 17 April from 11am – 1pm. These sessions are suitable for beginners as well as for those with some meditation experience and will cover various techniques to benefit our health and wellbeing.
Broadmead BID manager Steve Bluff says: “The Calmer Llamas will be a colourful addition to Bristol Shopping Quarter this Easter, and we hope they’ll encourage people to explore all four corners of Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade and Cabot Circus.” Families following the trail are invited to share their photos using the hashtag #BSQCalmerLlamas.
To add to the fun, from Monday 8 to Friday 12 April in The Galleries, young shoppers are invited to don their capes and channel their inner superhero for a week of free craft activities and opportunities to meet Marvel Comics favourites Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man.
The Galleries is also home to a fantastic ping pong parlour, open daily from 9am to 7pm (11am to 5pm on Sundays) throughout Easter and beyond. There are three tables and it’s absolutely free to play, just pick up a bat and ball and get going.
Visit Cabot Circus, on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April, to join the circus ringmaster and his friendly crew to help them get the show on the road, including the main star of the event – Esperanza the Elephant! Groups of children will be invited to step into the ring for a 20-minute, circus-themed, interactive storytelling experience. As well as Big Top tales, movement and song, children will be invited to help make the star of the show – a majestic and massive life-sized elephant puppet – dance and sing to entertain the crowd!
Expect star-studded storytelling and larger than life puppetry in this extraordinary event not to be missed. For further information visit www.bristolshoppingquarter.co.uk/easter
