is needed now More than ever
Alongside the core subjects such as Mathematics and English, a strong focus is given to technology, art, music, drama and sport, as well as regular visits to the award-winning Forest School.
The Pre-Preparatory School has a range of facilities to support the wide variety of activities on offer, including dedicated music facilities as well as the Bretten Memorial Hall which provides a modern and flexible space for sport, dance and drama. There is also an on-site 25m swimming pool which is used weekly by the Pre-Preparatory pupils.
The school has a dedicated library, run by a school librarian who specialises in finding the very best books and resources to encourage a passion for reading. The library hosts author and illustrator visits and organises an annual Book Week.
In addition, Pre-Preparatory pupils have access to the wider college facilities, including the Redgrave Theatre, the College Chapel, the Joseph Cooper Music School and the beautiful Grade II listed Percival Library.
As well as developing pupils’ enquiring, investigative minds through a broad curriculum and an extensive choice of co-curricular activities, the school encourages pupils to nurture their creative abilities through play.
The Pre-Preparatory School benefits from its own play area where a wide range of stimulating indoor and outdoor activities are set up daily.
The school calendar also includes a number of trips and visits each year – from Tyntesfield House to Bristol Zoo – with a residential school trip in Year 3.
Headmaster Jim Walton said: “The most important aspect of the Pre-Prep years is enjoyment. The aim for all of our pupils is to achieve high levels of engagement in all of their learning.
“We want to help develop well-rounded, happy and confident pupils who will go out into the world ready to make a difference and eager to continue their educational journey.”
