Redmaids’ High School proudly celebrates 390 years of delivering outstanding education for girls
This year, Redmaids’ High School proudly celebrates an extraordinary milestone – 390 years of delivering outstanding education for girls in Bristol. It’s rich history, established in 1634, is a testament to a commitment to excellence and the trust placed in us by generations of students and parents. Today, the state-of-the-art facilities in Science and Technology, along with opportunities in Sport, Drama, Art, and Music, equip the girls with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
The school looks forward to an exciting future as it honours this legacy. In February 2025, Redmaids’ High School will join the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools. This move reaffirms it’s commitment to providing the best education for all students. As the 26th school to join this prestigious family of schools, it is thrilled to continue its long-standing tradition of excellence while welcoming new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and educational development.

The staff are committed to helping girls reach their full potential, ensuring they feel confident, happy, and well-prepared for challenges.
Redmaids’ High broad and balanced curriculum promotes independent thinking, creativity, and academic excellence. Beyond the classroom, it offers extensive extracurricular activities for every interest. Whether participating in school plays, public speaking competitions, broadcasting on its own radio station, or participating in the vibrant sports and music programmes, there is something for everyone at the School.
The unique Athena Development Grant also provides each student with personalised funding to support their growth and ambitions, further expanding their educational journey. This, combined with exceptional pastoral care, ensures that every student is known, valued, and encouraged to pursue their passions, whatever path they choose.
