Clothes swap event encourages sustainability
The Little Green Wardrobe Clothes Swap is coming back at Kings Weston House on Wednesday, January 15 and is the perfect place to start constructing a more sustainable wardrobe in 2020.
Fashion stylist and sustainable fashion supporter, Becky Barnes is encouraging fashion lovers to move away from fast fashion and update their wardrobes at bi-monthly clothes swapping events.

“In the UK we buy more clothes per person than any other country in Europe,” explains Becky. “Fast fashion means we are over-consuming and under-using our clothes. As a result, we get rid of over a million tonnes of clothes, with £140m worth going to landfill, every single year.
“Increasing a garment’s lifetime is one of the most effective means of reducing its environmental footprint and Little Green Wardrobe sets out to achieve just that, as well as being a fun event.”

For £3, anyone can attend the Little Green Wardrobe event and bring along six items of pre-loved clothing to swap them for six pre-loved items from other attendees.
January 2020’s theme is ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, encouraging swappers to bring along bright colours and prints to “bring some joy into January”.

Al items brought to the event need to be in good condition, clean, with no visible marks and Little Green Wardrobe encourage people to bring along clothing that still have the tags, unwanted gifts, garments that don’t fit anymore and items unworn for a long time.
The event is less about streetwear and more orientated towards mid-to-high end fashion items, such as winter dresses, separates, knitwear, coats, bags, accessories, shoes and boots.
“At the last swap we found new homes for over 150 items, so I’m hoping for even more this time,” says Becky.
