Introducing the Bristol Fashion Show all-dayer
Not to be confused with the so-called Bristol Fashion Week, The Bristol Fashion Show actually features Bristol fashion creatives and supports local independents. This community event will showcase local talents from fashion designers, photographers, DJs, hair and make-up artists, right through to fine artists and performers for a one-day festival at Motion on May 20.

Bristol creatives featuring in the 2018 show include Painted Peach, Laa Woof and Tatty Gusset
The show’s organiser, Butzi Schlaadt-Goode, is no stranger to running fashion shows, with a background in curating the exciting Coexist shows for two years at her beloved Hamilton House (where Butzi originally had a studio) alongside the Coexist founder James Pike. The idea was to create a platform to showcase the many independent creatives from Hamilton House and the Bristol area, and it’s a concept that is being continued in the Bristol Fashion Show project.
“My Mum used to run fashion shows when I was a child in Zell-Mosel, Germany. She was so passionate about it, so I caught the bug,” explains Butzi. “ I wanted to support Bristol’s creatives and raise money for Hamilton House and Coexist. I love people supporting each other and Bristol does it so well.”

Following the grassroots, DIY-style fashion shows that came out of Hamilton House, Butzi took a short break as it became clear that Hamilton House’s future would not continue in the way Coexist had hoped. With ideas on raising money to save Hamilton House and the Coexist space, Butzi got the fashion show itch with a vision to put on a new type of fashion show, in a bigger space, as an all-day event. Motion was the perfect fit: with its extensive Victorian warehouse spaces and picturesque cobbled courtyard outdoor areas, it’s an ideal venue for both for live music events and festival-style all-dayers.

“The talent we have here in Bristol blows me away, It’s so vibrant and colourful: back in Germany when I was younger there was no individuality and if you were individual people talked about you, in Bristol people feel free to express themselves!” Butzi says with a passion that is contagious.
This vibrant and diverse event will combine an outdoor market, live music and performers plus two amazing catwalk shows, where families and fashionistas alike are invited to celebrate Bristol’s diverse creative scene. Throughout the day, the team will be aiming to raise money to help save Hamilton House, where the Bristol Fashion Show originated.
