Let’s take a look at the different festival fashion tribes and get the low-down from Team Love and The Fashpack on their Love Saves the Day festival fashion moments.

The weather confused everyone over the weekender which saw downpours of rain and thunderstorms turn into the most glorious of sunny days, which frankly added to the dilemma of what the hell to wear in these ever-changing conditions.

Do I take a rain coat and wellies or pile on the suntan lotion? One thing you didn’t need was a warm hoody as this year was truly hot, hot, hot!

“People were coming in and asking us for scissors to cut their welly boots down, they were so hot!” laughed Zoe Thompson from Zedhead Headwear and The Fashpack.

The Fashpack are a collaboration of independent fashion designers and body glitter specialists. These LSTD regulars are the first stop for all fashionistas and festival goers to get glittered up and ready to party at The Fashpack tent.

Founded by Joh Rindom, Bristol’s streetwear queen at That Thing on Stokes Croft, The Fashpack team for LSTD included local and independent designers Zedhead Headwear, Bo Boutique, Kiss my Disco, Butchi & GosMos, That Thing and Dulcie’s Feathers.

They were also joined by flamboyant fashion legends Kuccia who dropped their latest sequin and rainbow fuelled collection at the LSTD festival this year.

“We love what Team Love have achieved with Love Saves The Day over the years,” Joh tells Bristol24/7.

“We’ve been involved since the early days and It’s so much fun to be part of this festival. It’s also meaningful to us to be part of something locally, here in Bristol, and really help showcase what the alternative and independent fashion scene here has to offer.”

Planning what to wear to an outdoor festival is difficult enough, so how do Joh and The Fashpack team choose what items to take and what was their best seller at LSTD this year?

“Our best-selling item this year at Love Saves The Day was heart shaped sunglasses, because, you know, LOVE!” laughs Joh. “Buying them in was a gamble and thanks to a mixture of the weather being glorious and people feeling the love, they sold out in record time”.

Bristol24/7 searched the whole festival site for the best dressed festival fashionistas and to find this year’s style tribes.

Alongside the fabulous festival regulars including glitters, golds and metallics; leopard prints and florals were making a big impact, as were statement black outfits highlighted with florals and bright colours, bringing a new look to festival fashion, incorporating a fresh, streetwear style into the mix.

Glorious gold garms

Leopard print was a big trend at this years festival – even for the youngest revellers

Twinning was a big thing this year where you would see friends and even parents twinning it up with their kids, in matching leopard prints and mermaid leggings.

East Asian looks including Japanese kimonos, Cheong Sam dresses were a micro trend this year and rainbows on everything from prints to make-up to sequins were a big new trend too.

Pretty pastel co-ords and sheer fabrics kept things cute whilst clashing prints. tassels, outrageous homemade pom pom outfits, furry hats (on a boiling day) and Memphis-style body paint added to the super unique looks that make Love Saves the Day the big fashion festival for Bristol.

The East Asian micro trend makes an appearance this year.

“I remember Eva Lazarus having quite a memorable outfit this year,” says Tom Payne from Team Love “David Rodigan looked very dapper too in his black and tweed suit.

“Other fashion highlights included Mabel in her dark, olive green Paco Rabanne tracksuit, a punter in her amazing purple cape and our walkaround theatre crew dressed as bin collectors and bags of rubbish, trying to encourage people to use the bins!”

“Love Saves the Day 2018 marked a standout year for us; with several completely new stages and a brand-new area of the park all seemingly going down very well with festival-goers,” adds Ben Jackson from Team Love.

“Whilst some standout performances from Fatboy Slim, Four Tet – live, Andy C and The Outlook Orchestra with David Rodigan meant that this year’s event was one of the best yet.”
