City centre gym closes

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jan 23, 2024

A Christmas tree and decorations remain on display in a gym which has failed to reopen for the new year.

But some people with remaining classes in TRIB3 claim that they have not been informed of its closure and have paid for sessions they are now unable to use and for which they have not been refunded.

Bristol24/7 also understands that coaches were not given any notice of the gym’s closure either and remain unpaid.

The former fitness studio on Nelson Street specialised in high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts.

Comments appear to have been deleted from TRIB3’s most recent Instagram posts which saw numerous complaints.

Before they were deleted, @olivia.rebecca.witt wrote: “Can someone please give an update on the studio ‘temporary closure’. Received an email on the 21.12 about this temporary measure and the same email on 03.01.

“However, after purchasing a £200 pack at the beginning of December to use, I am unable to at one of the times of the year when people want to use it most. Would appreciate an update and / or refund!”

@awinnie26 added: “Taken members money and done one. Nice!”

TRIB3 opened on the ground floor of the Courtrooms student accommodation block – the site of Bristol’s former magistrates’ court – in 2020 and was the gym’s third opening in the UK, with other studios in Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain.

CEO Kevin Yates said at the time: “We’re thrilled to be bringing the TRIB3 concept to Bristol and in such an iconic location within the city…

“Community is a big part of what makes TRIB3 so special and we already have an amazing family of workout warriors in the UK; we can’t wait to see it grow even further as the Bristol Courtrooms studio opens its doors.”

Bristol24/7 has contacted TRIB3 for comment.
