Discover spooky displays across Bristol

By Karen Johnson  Wednesday Oct 30, 2024

A new map will guide Halloween fanatics to spooky displays outside homes in the city.

Having just hit 7,000 members on their Facebook group – Halloween Displays in Bristol – was founded by Natasha Marriott with the hope of uniting people over the spooky season.

She told Bristol24/7: “It started around about Covid time. I’d done my displays, before 2018. But I thought – ‘I can’t be the only one with a Halloween display’. So I started a Facebook group, to see if anyone else does it.”

Marriott initially thought she would “not get much interest” but was delighted to be proven wrong.

‘Wall of horror’ can be found in Fishponds

She continued: “Next thing I know, I have absolutely loads of interest. I have loads of people on the map. And it just kind of all started from there!”

In 2024, four years after she started the Facebook group there are 7,000 people interested in the display and over 30 houses featuring their own displays.

Anyone interested can join the Facebook group and see the map – Displays in Bristol – to find all the participating houses.

The list features houses from Horfield, Stoke Bishop, Chipping Sodbury, Henleaze and several other neighbourhoods across Bristol – each with a unique display name.

‘Creepy Hallow’ can be seen on Frome Road in Chipping Sodbury

Marriott’s display called ‘Creepy Hallow’ stands on the doorstep of her Chipping Sodbury home, which features skeletons, spider webs and skulls having a gala time before Halloween.

But it’s not all about boos and spooks for Marriott. Through this unique initiative, she also raises money for Bristol Children’s Hospital where she admits spending a lot of time, with her children.

She added: “I’m raising money with my display for Bristol Children’s Hospital. We’ve got a QR code on our fence.

“We’ve got an online donation page and we have a donation bucket.”
