For more than 20 years, Good Garden Awards have been given out to the best front gardens in BS3.
First thought of by local gardening enthusiast and former B&Q Gardner Of The Year Matthew Symonds, the Awards are now coordinated in collaboration with Blooming Bedminster, a community project which celebrates local groups who care for green spaces.
Between June and early July, volunteer judges roam the streets of Bedminster looking for stand out front gardens, window boxes and hanging baskets. Both residential homes and businesses are eligible for awards and judges are told to look for a “wow factor” when awarding prizes.
is needed now More than ever
If a judge deems a garden worthy they give out a Good Garden Award poster to the homeowner on the spot, which many proudly stick in their windows.

The design for this year’s poster came from Charlie Tallis
We’ve seen many of them – including a “Chaotic garden” and a Sylvanian family-themed garden.
Over the past two decades, over 35,000 awards have been given out. Here are some of our favourites from this year.
