City hosts its ‘first and largest’ Bitcoin conferences

By Karen Johnson  Saturday Nov 16, 2024

Bristol’s Bitcoin community has united for a day of discussion dedicated to “empowering individuals, families and communities” through grassroots finance.

Organised by Bitcoin Bristol, Bitcoin West 2024 was one of the biggest Bitcoin events hosted in the city, aimed to increase dialogue around the first decentralised cryptocurrency.

The conference was hosted at Hamilton House in Stokes Croft on Saturday and was attended by around a hundred Bitcoin enthusiasts.

Apart from over ten speakers heading the conference across a variety of finance topics, there were a few sellers who had items to sell. The five sellers had T-shirts, coffee, art, 3D printed merchandise, metalwork and fresh pastries from Hobbs House Bakery.

Speakers at the conference included the largest Bitcoin podcaster of the UK Daniel Prince, prolific Welsh Bitcoin and Open Source developer Ben Arc and Susie Violet Ward from BitcoinPolicy.uk.

Bitcoin Bristol have been hosting regular meet ups and workshops for the crypto community across Bristol since their establishment in 2020.

For four years, they have tried to educate people about our “broken” financial system, while ensuring they give them solutions to the problem.

Anybody from Bristol can drop in for one of their monthly socials, to connect with other Bristol Bitcoiners.
