Festival CEO and PR boss join forces to launch ‘redefining’ wellness venture
A wellness venture with the aim of “redefining” the sector with a holistic approach has been launched in Brislington.
Lumen Space is the brainchild of LaToyah McAllister-Jones, chief executive of St Pauls Carnival and Joanna Randall, founding director of Bristol-based communications and marketing consultancy Purplefish.
They were joined in the venture by the experienced Bristol-based chef Gethin Russell-Jones. The trio hopes to offer a combination of day and weekend retreats alongside bespoke services which combine their collective areas of expertise.
is needed now More than ever
Randall is no novice to the wellness and wellbeing as she runs the Brislington-based Essence Yoga while McAllister-Jones offers personal and professional development tools with Action Learning.

Each retreat is meticulously curated to offer participants a bespoke blend of relaxation and self-discovery to rejuvenate, revitalise, and inspire
The team has expressed its desire to “redefine the standard retreat experience” with their unique approach that combines luxury, wellness, personal growth and quality food and nutrition.

Co-founder Joanna Randall said: “In this increasingly busy world where it can be hard to find time to reflect and focus on personal growth and wellness, we believe that everyone deserves a space to recharge and rediscover their passions. We all need time out and with stress and anxiety on the rise we are creating spaces where people can recharge and reflect.”

Mental Health UK’s Burnout report this year found that some 91 per cent of UK adults experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress in the past year and the Lumen team has expressed its vision to address it “by providing valuable space away from everyday pressures”.
“Many learning settings are very corporate or job function focused; there is a gap in the market for retreats and experiences which are more holistic in looking at supporting all aspects of life – from career and personal development to overcoming personal challenges and life changes,” said Randall.
