Talk Club partners with Bristol coffee roaster for World Mental Health Day
A new partnership hopes to encourage men to open up during a difficult time, through the simple act of coffee.
‘Talk Club 10’ is being launched by the team behind Talk Club, a leading men’s mental health charity, and local Bristol coffee roaster and supplier, Wogan Coffee.
The idea behind the partnership is to get people to take ten minutes out of the day to ask a friend, or even themselves “How are you out of ten?”.
is needed now More than ever
Talk Club 10 comes in the wake of a stark increase in the number of men accessing mental health support during the cost of living crisis.
Talk Club says mental health services in the UK have seen a 90 per cent increase in referrals to their crisis support services over the past six months, with a third of people’s mental health issues stemming from financial worries.
In light of this news, Talk Club and Wogan Coffee are inviting businesses, cafes and consumers to join the launch event at the Arnolfini on the morning of World Mental Health Day on Monday, October 10 to learn how to host their own fortnightly coffee mornings to check in with their own staff.
Talk Club hopes the morning will help remove the stigma of talking about mental health to encourage more men to open-up and express how they are feeling, all while enjoying a warm cup of coffee.
£2.50 of every kg of Wogan Coffee sold at the launch event will go to Talk Club.
James Wogan, the company’s director said: “It is such a pleasure and an honour to work with Talk Club on this. They have such a powerful mission, that reminds us of the importance of speaking openly and honestly about our mental health.
“We hope that this bespoke cup of coffee can encourage friends, colleagues or family, to have proper and meaningful conversations to inspire change.”
You can order “Talk Club Ten” on Wogan Coffee’s website or in your local coffee shop if they stock Wogan coffee.
Talk Club 10 is also part of Talk Club’s wider programme which also includes The Talk Club Therapy Groups. The therapy groups run for six weeks at a time and are subsidised by Talk Club to make them only £8 a session.
