Inside Lego’s brand new Bristol shop

By George Dean  Thursday Nov 7, 2024

Bristol will now have the chance to indulge in some more Lego fun at the second shop in the city.

The new Lego Store is now open on the first floor at Cribbs – formerly known as The Mall at Cribbs Causeway – with big queues marking its opening day.

Similar to its other Bristol shop in Cabot Circus, the Lego Store at Cribbs has a variety of building experiences catering to different ages and interests.

Ahead of the opening, vice president of marketing at Lego retail, Shweta Munshi, said: “We saw that we have a great fanbase here and our fans were wanting more so hence the second store.”

Munshi explained that Lego aims to create fun experiences for a range of “passion areas and age groups”, while catering to a “very wide range of price points”.

“We ask the question: what are the interests that you have? Would you like vehicles, flowers, or movies? And we create themes around them.”

From Peppa Pig inspired Duplo to blocks inspired by the TV show Friends – the store has something for everyone.

Talking about their diversification over the years, Munshi added: “I think that with these partnerships we are able to do two things: we are able to reach the fans.

“Lego is a very popular brand and when you combine it with another brand like Harry Potter it gives us an opportunity and permission to reach those fans.

“It’s that intersection that we are able to do.”

In the era where most people are thriving on online shopping, Munshi emphasised the need for a “real” retail experience.

She said: “The reason why we do this retail experience is that we want to offer these interactions and personalisation to all our shoppers globally.

“Once the Covid affect dropped out we weren’t sure how we would see the retail landscape evolve.

“What we have seen is shoppers are wanting to come back to the physical retail with renewed focus.

“Our research shows that it is for two reasons – for the experience that they are getting, and they are beginning to value experience more.

“They are coming for the experience of it and the whole retail entertainment aspect of it.

“They want to touch and feel the product before they buy it.”
