One of Quakers Friars’ biggest shops has closed

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Apr 24, 2024

The Ted Baker shop in Quakers Friars has now closed following the fashion retailer falling into administration.

It is one of 11 stores across the UK to have shut resulting in 245 job losses.

Adminstrators Teneo said that all of the shops that have closed are making a loss and are “deemed to have no prospect of being able to return to profitability even with material rent reductions”.

Joint administrator Benji Dymant said: “Ted Baker is an iconic British brand with strong partners around the world.

“These store closures, whilst with a regrettable impact on valued team members, will improve the performance of the business, as (owner) Authentic continues to progress discussions with potential UK and European operating partners for the Ted Baker brand to bring the business back to health.

“We would like to thank Ted Baker team members and partners for their ongoing efforts and support at this difficult time.”
