10 reasons Bristol should back Wales tonight
1. Looks like most people in Bristol will be supporting Wales in their European Championships semi-final against Portugal on Wednesday evening, so you should probably join in:
2. Bristol Rugby’s Callum Sheedy was born in Cardiff, and he’s kind of amazing (and beautiful…).
is needed now More than ever
3. You can totally learn Welsh here in Bristol, which you can then shout at the TV if Portugal score. “Cachau bant Ronaldo!”
4. We strongly support the Welsh community here. Bristol Uni even has a special club (although I’d advise going to those Welsh lessons before attending, they seem pretty dedicated…)
5. Many of us apparently have Welsh roots. According to a map produced by a university research team, around half of the surnames in Bristol are Welsh.
6. Hanham’s most famous son Stephen Merchant is Welsh (well, sort of)
Get in! Just checked with my mum and my great-grandfather was Welsh and my grandmother was raised in North Wales. COME ON MY BOYS!!

7. Because cheese. Specifically the award-winning Snowdonia cheddar, black bomber (sounds exciting, I know) which is sold at Clifton’s Arch House Deli. You can also usually find some Welsh cheese at Source in St Nick’s Market.
8. England lost to Iceland, a country with a population less than Bristol. Surely it can’t get anymore embarrassing? We should probably support our neighbours to pretend we don’t care…
9. Apparently, one member of Goldie Lookin’ Chain went to UWE. If you haven’t experienced the magical creation that is Your Mother’s Got a Penis, I think it’s about time you did:
10. This sheep.
Good luck, Wales! Pob lwc, Cymru!
