Arts community raising money for charities during the coronavirus crisis
Set up by Bristol creative agencies Duchess Media and Hey! What?, Life on Hold is a campaign aiming to generate a new community of digital, music and arts creatives.
Producing designs, illustrations, animations and music inspired by the current change in pace of life during lockdown, the fundraising project encourages both professional and amateur artists to get involved and connect while raising money for charity.
The project is based around three main sections: Firstly, a key artist produces an original piece before participants download the files and use elements of the artwork to create their own piece. Lastly, the remix gets uploaded to the website and artists can then remix that version.
is needed now More than ever
Each key artist will choose their top three remixes of their work and these people will go into the draw to win some prizes.
The key artists chosen to make the original work include Bristol-based Amber Elise, Sepr and Anna Higgie, as well as creatives from further afield, such as Yeye Weller, Miss Led and Dan Woodger.

Dan Woodger is one of the selected key artists
Since launching at the beginning of April 2020, more than 350 creatives have applied to take part.
The project will culminate in an online exhibition, with the original pieces of work and remixed prints available for purchase.
All profits raised will be donated to mental health charity Mind as well as selected local NHS trusts, including Above & Beyond.

“We’re so excited by the list of key artists we have assembled for Life on Hold and the work that they have submitted is incredible,” says founder Hamish McWhirter.
“We hope that the campaign not only raises important funds for the NHS and Mind but also serves as a way of using creativity as a form of therapy during what is a difficult and uneasy time for many of us.”
