Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2018, day 19: Second Step
Recognising that Christmas can be a difficult time for many, Second Step has launched a campaign to raise awareness of male suicide and show support is available.
The St Paul’s-based mental health charity works alongside the NHS and council to offer practical help and emotional support that’s tailored to each individual and their recovery.
Experienced teams engage with the significant population of rough sleepers in Bristol, and offer support to people with multiple and complex needs; including homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction.
is needed now More than ever
Second Step started the Hope Project two months ago. This is for men between the ages of 35 and 64 who are in psychological distress and having problems with housing, debt or employment, but who aren’t currently engaged with mental health services.
In addition, the #GetReal campaign aims to raise awareness of the very real problem of suicide among men. The charity states that 75 per cent of all suicides in Bristol are male.
The Hope Project team are experienced support workers keen to make a difference and save lives.
