What do Bristolians think of robotics?
This summer Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) doctoral students will be distributing questionnaires to members of the Bristol public to collect their views on robotics and technology.
Chanelle Lee, one of the twelve BRL students carrying out the research for their PhD studies, said: “Robotics and artificial intelligence are technologies appearing more and more in our daily lives, raising concerns whether we should adopt them or not. These events and surveys are aimed at demystifying the bad reputation these types of technologies have developed through their portrayal in the media.”
It is hoped that gathering data on public opinion about robotics will aid understanding of the public’s knowledge, perceptions and misconceptions. This information will be used to inform research and improve public engagement activities. A further aim of this work is to raise awareness amongst Bristolians of the city’s long-standing history with robotics and its world leading role in current research.
is needed now More than ever
Questionnaires will be distributed around Bristol for the entire summer and will be available from several venues including all the public libraries, the Folk House Café, The Canteen, University of Bristol Students’ Union and Café Ronak.
